EA App Not Working in Windows? Here’s How to Fix!
When the EA application stops working, it may frequently crash or fail to launch. This mainly occurs due to various underlying causes, such as corrupted cache files or an outdated Windows operating system. Other potential causes include incomplete installations and compatibility issues with ultra-wide monitors.
Since we have discussed the causes, let’s look at the solutions to this issue.
1. Clear Cache
The cache files are temporary files that applications create to access data frequently, such as login details, and unsaved data. This allows the applications to retrieve data more quickly than fetching it from the server. Over time, the cache data becomes corrupted, resulting in a black screen or launching issues.
Therefore, we always recommend starting troubleshooting by clearing the cache data to ensure that there is no corruption in the cache files that could cause the issue.
Note: This won’t affect your game data unless you have unsaved data in the cache files.
- To clear the cache files, press the Start Menu button and type EA. Right-click the app and select Open file location. This will open the folder.
- Here, simply run the App recovery application as an administrator. Then, click Clear Cache to proceed.
- Once done, launch the EA App and see if the issue is resolved.
2. Update EA Desktop via EAUpdater.exe
Outdated EA application often result in issues with not launching or a black screen. By updating the app, you ensure that your communication with the server is smooth and you have updated files and features. Additionally, when you update the game, you replace the old files that might be corrupted, causing the issue.
- Press the Win key and type EA.
- Right-click on it and select Open file location.
- Once you have navigated to the EA folder, run the EA app updater from the EA programs.
- Wait for it to update the app.
- Once done, see if this resolved the issue.
3. Enable Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for Worldwide Language Support
Many applications need to access certain files to run properly. If the application struggles to access these files, it can lead to application startup issues. Enabling this setting helps applications read file paths accurately, even those with special characters. However, changes to system settings may impact other applications. This solution has worked for many users, so it might work for you as well.
- Press the Win key and type Control Panel on the keyboard.
- Press Enter to navigate into it.
- From here, navigate to Clock and Region > Region. Select Administrative from the top.
- Click Change System Locale and check Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for Worldwide Language Support.
- Once done, click OK and then click Apply and then OK again to save the settings.
- Finally, launch the EA app and check if the issue is resolved.
4. Repair the EA App
If you have the latest version of the EA app, you should try to repair it. Repairing the app will replace the old or corrupted files that may be preventing the app from launching.
- Download the EA app from the link.
- Once the installer is downloaded, double-click on it to run the installer. Since you already have the EA app installed, it will trigger the EA app to display the Repair option.
- Click on the Repair option and wait for it to be completed.
- Once done, the EA application should now launch without any issues.
Lastly, if the problem persists, reinstalling the application may help resolve the issue, especially if the files are corrupted and need to be replaced.
